The Four Pillars and Ten Gods

The names can sound unfamiliar. Start with one idea: the Ten Gods describe how another character relates to your Day Master.

Four positions, different contexts

The year pillar is introduced through roots and early environment, the month through growth and social life, the day through the self and close relationships, and the hour through what develops over time. These are traditional interpretive contexts, not evidence of actual family events or predictions of future outcomes.

The same stem–branch pair can be interpreted with a different emphasis in another position. Read the description in its stated context rather than treating one pillar as a complete description of someone.

Relations depend on the Day Master

The system distinguishes whether an element matches, generates, is generated by, controls, or is controlled by the Day Master. Yin and Yang differences divide these into ten relationships. Changing the Day Master changes how the same target character is classified.

Companion and Rob Wealth concern independence and peers; Eating God and Hurting Officer concern expression; Wealth relations concern resources; Officer relations concern responsibility and challenges; Resource relations concern learning and support. These symbolic names do not calculate someone’s actual income, status or abilities.

Stems and branches are interpreted differently

A Heavenly Stem is compared directly. An Earthly Branch contains hidden stems; this site uses its main hidden stem for relational readings. It does not model all hidden-stem weights or provide a complete traditional structural analysis.

For a Gap Wood Day Master, another Gap Wood is Companion and Eul Wood is Rob Wealth. Both are Wood, but their polarity differs. The names describe a symbolic relationship, not whether another person is good or bad.

From relations to practical reflection

Strengths, growing points and relationship suggestions connect the Day Master’s imagery with the month stem and the day branch’s main hidden stem. Checking which part of the chart informed a statement can make the reading more concrete.

The relationship section uses only your chart. It is not a comparison between two people’s birth charts. Read it as a reflection on communication and expectations, and compare it with how relationships actually unfold.
